Biography

Dr. Shalaka has completed her post-graduation with a senior residency in Pathology from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai with a special interest in Histopathology, particularly Oncopathology. She graduated with an internship from Seth GS Medical College, KEMH. She has worked in diverse setups from stand-alone labs to tertiary care hospitals. Her areas of interest are oncopathology and immunohistochemistry.

  • Won the Best Oral Paper Prize in the Annual Conference of Indian Musculoskeletal Oncology Society (IMSOS) 2015 Held at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai
  • Won Prize in Quiz competition at PD Hinduja-Metropolis Lymphoma CME, April 2017

Dr. Shalaka has graduated with her internship from Geth GS Medical College and KEMH, Mumbai. She has done her post-graduation with a one-year senior residency at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

She has also done one year residency post in P D Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai.

Before joining Kokilaben hospital, she was attached to Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai.

She also has experience of working in stand-alone labs, namely Oncopath Diagnostics, Pune and SRL Dr. Avinash Phadke Lab, Mumbai.

Dr. Shalaka will be joining the department of laboratory medicine- Histopathology as a Consultant

Dr. Shalaka brings to the table experience in histopathology, oncopathology, cytopathology, immunohistochemistry, frozen section and quality control in the histopathology lab. She was instrumental in acquiring and maintaining the NABL accreditation in a tertiary care hospital. She has a keen interest in research.

She has presented oral papers and posters at state, national and international levels.

She has a keen interest in teaching the postgraduates and senior residents, the basics of grossing, reporting, and immunohistochemistry.
