Biography

I interpret x ray films and have over 40 years’ experience. My core competence, is in an area where expertise is rarely available elsewhere in our city or country. It in the interpretation of (x rays) related skeletal dysplasias, metabolic bone disease, endocrine diseases, HSGs, Bariums, children’s’ chest x-rays and xrays  of bone tumors.

I have lectured extensively on this specialty all over the country and my work has been recognized by the Radiological Society of North America – when in 1995, I was invited to Chicago as the First International Visiting Scholar to their Annual meeting.

I am passionate about teaching have trained hundreds of radiologists who are now spread all over the world. I practice and preach patient-centered radiology.

I believe that radiology is about patient care and not just interpretation of images.

With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Ramakantan was also Professor and Head Department of Radiology, KEM Hospital, Mumbai and Visiting Professor, Brigham's and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He was the First International Visiting Scholar, Radiological Society of North America and the Founding President Indian Society of Neuroradiology. He has received the Best Medical Teacher Award, University of Mumbai and Karmayogi Award, Bombay Medical Aid Foundation. He has above 60 research papers in Indexed Journals and over 20 orations to his credit. He has been honored with the Lifetime achievement award: Indian Society of vascular and Interventional Radiology
