Dr Prashant completed his basic graduation from Lokmanya Tilak Municiapal medical college and postgraduation from Seth GS Medical College and KEM hospital- Mumbai. He then pursued his fellowship in pediatric cardiology from Escorts Heart institute and research centres-New Delhi.
He has pursued a Clinical fellowship in Pulmonary Hypertension at Stollery Children's Hospital and Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, Edmonton, Canada. Apart from the clinical work, his primary focus of research was in accurate and non invasive detection of pulmonary hypertension by advanced signal processing in time and frequency domain using digital stethoscope.
Congenital heart disease: Dr. Prashant has an experience of 12 years in diagnosis and managing patients with congenital heart disease. He specializes in advanced echocardiographic evaluation as well as is proficient in all simple and complex cardiac catheterization interventions for congenital heart disease.
Pulmonary hypertension: Post his fellowship in pulmonary hypertension in Canada, Dr. Prashant Set up the pulmonary hypertension clinic in KDAH.
PH clinic is one of its kind in Western India, Multidisciplinary clinic involving Pulmonary hypertension specialist, Cardiologist, pediatric cardiologist, cardiac surgeons (Adult and pedaitric), Rheumatologist and Pulmonologist with one point of contact at the Childrens Heart Centre.
This clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension. Currently it has a large patient database of more than 300 patients who are registered and on regular follow up in the clinic. Apart from the routine investigation and management of patients with PH, this clinic has performed 17 Potts shunt (Highest Single center experience in India) and has more than 15 patients on prostacyclin therapy.
The clinic also has a dedicated rehabilitation center which helps in rehab of the patients with PH.
Fetal echocardiogram: He also runs the Fetal echocardiographic clinic where a detailed evaluation of the heart if the fetus is carried out followed by counselling of the prospective parents.
