On 7th February 2020, Dr Shreyash Gajjar was the 1st in India to perform a Live Surgery demonstration of this latest technique for Joint related Cartilage injury.
Cartilage injury to the Knee, Ankle & other major joints can occur following injury playing sports or due to accident. High grade injuries generally require surgery & if untreated, will lead to progressive damage to the joint & result in Arthritis.
Cartilage repair surgery techniques are constantly evolving to improve quality of healing tissue at injury site. Arthroscopic Autologous Cartilage repair (AACR) is the latest cell-based repair technique which offers the advantages of being a Single stage, Arthroscopic procedure wherein patient’s own Cartilage tissue from the joint is used to repair the injured cartilage.
