Mr. Anuj Gupta

I am Anuj Gupta, age 56 years, businessman and industrialist.

I am also an avid biker and play sports such as badminton and cricket.

In May of 2023, I had a small fall and hit my shoulder falling down. Though I was stiff in the night and next day, I did not pay much attention to my shoulder. However, when I went to play box cricket a couple of days later, I found myself dropping the most easiest of catches and later when I went to bat, I swung the bat just once and felt a terrible shooting pain originating from my shoulder to my arm. I could not lift my arm over my waist since that night.

On examination on the MRI, we found the following:
1. Supraspinatus tendinosis is noted with full thickness partial width tear of the anterior fibres from the distal insertion site with retraction of the proximal fibres. Tendinous gap measuring ~ 8.5 mm.
2. Subscapularis and infraspinatus tendinosis noted.
3. Antero-inferior glenoid labral tear noted.
4. Mild deltoid sprain noted.
5. Mild acromio-clavicular joint arthropathy noted.
6. Mild peritendinous fluid is seen along the long head of biceps tendon.
7. Mild thickening with intrasubstance hyperintensity seen in inferior glenohumeral ligament with ill defined soft tissue in the rotator interval – likely adhesive capsulitis

I tried to do physiotherapy right from the next day of my hurting myself, however I still was hurting and could not work with my right hand ( I had to pick it up to put it on the table, i.e. the progress was limited and very slow).

My son being a MBBS doctor, we took some professional advice from some professionals and luckily ended up with an emergency appointment with Dr. Shreyas Gajjar to whom I confided my expectations of playing badminton and bowling in cricket.

After examining all my MRI Scans and Reports, he was confident in resolving my pain and my situation through surgery, infact, he gave us an option on coming in after 04days (if comfortable) for surgery. We took this opportunity and got operated on 28th June, 2023.

My hospital stay was for three days. I was given perfect instructions and adequate pain killing meds to sail through the period of pain. Adequate physiotherapy was advised and done resulting in me riding my 400kg Harley Bike to Amritsar and Dalhousie from Mumbai on 15.11.2023.

I started playing badminton in the first week of January, 2024 and have now been cleared to play cricket, i.e. bowl overarm and bat to season ball which I am working hard at myself to play the coming season starting Sept/Oct, 2024.

I know that Dr. Shreyas Gajjar is superb surgeon, he is extremely experienced and is such a gentle and smiling personality. He infuses confidence in the patient and post surgery, he keeps a through check on his patients through his evaluation system.

I seriously feel that now my right (operated) shoulder is much stronger that my left one. I also know that I hit a jackpot getting operated by Dr. Shreyas Gajjar than anyone else.

In the end, I want to thank you, Dr. Gajjar and your entire staff who was involved in my surgery and who are still involved in keeping evaluation checks on me.

Thank you and God Bless you !!
