The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which can infect both adults and children, causes infections of the lungs and respiratory system. The symptoms of RSV are usually mild and resemble common cold. However, for infants aged 12 months, preterm babies, elderly persons, those with heart and lung illness, a severe infection is possible.
