12th Annual National Conference of the Pediatric Cardiac Society of India at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital

Mumbai, October 8th – 10th, 2010 - The 12th Annual National Conference of the Pediatric Cardiac Society of India will be held at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Andheri (West) Mumbai from October 8th – 10th, 2010.  The objective of the conference is to bring together leading professionals and support personnel for a comprehensive overview about varied aspects of Pediatric Cardiology. PCSI is an association of medical doctors (Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons, Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologists, Intensivists, & Researchers) and paramedical personnel (Nurses, Perfusionists, Physician Assistants) from all over India involved in caring for children with Heart Problems.

This conference is a meeting of expertise and support personnel from all over India and discuss updates, exchange ideas about newer methods of treatment, and debate how excellence in care could be delivered to children with heart problems, particularly relevant to India. Distinguished Faculty who are world leaders from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, France, and South Korea would also be speaking in the meeting. At the conference, 350 – 400 delegates expected from all over India, other countries of South Asia and Middle East.

For the first time "Practice Issues" will be discussed at this conference where costs, insurance & finding funding for indigent children and other topics of propagating education are to be dwelt upon. Affordability and funding of care, particularly in case of children with heart defects would also be discussed. 

Highlights of this meeting are:

  1. Discussion and lively debates on advances and controversies in Pediatric Cardiology, Surgery and Intensive care.
  2. An International Symposium on a particular Complex Congenital Heart Problem covering all aspects of current understanding and care.
  3. Special Educational session for Pediatricians, "Pediatricians Day Out at PCSI" would discuss and highlight various Congenital Heart Issues encountered by them.
  4. A session on "Practice Issues" where aspects of funding for treatment, insurance aberrations etc. would be highlighted and discussed.
  5. A session on prevention and Fetal diagnosis of Congenital heart defects. This has been added for the first time.
  6. A unique inauguration function scheduled at 6:30pm October 8th, at the Nitu Mandke Convention Center, involves participation of patients and parents of children with Congenital Heart Defects recounting their experiences before the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the invited audience.

The Patron of the Conference, Mrs. Tina Ambani, the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Mrs. Snehalata Deshmukh, and Guest of Honour, noted Scientist Dr. Vijay Bhatkar would be addressing the gathering. This three day conference would conclude on the afternoon of October 10th with a valedictory Session.
